15-18 MINUTES PER POUND.
example: 17 lb turkey would take about 4 hours and 49 minutes.
17 lbs x 17 minutes/lb=289 minutes ; 289 minutes/60 minutes per hour = 4.82 hours
0.82 x 60 minutes = 49 minutes
Preheat oven to 300 ̊ (convection), 350 ̊ (conventional).
Remove turkey from plastic bag.
Remove Giblet set from cavity.
Place turkey in roasting pan with 1 inch of water.
Cover with foil.
Once turkey reaches 110 ̊ internal temperature, remove from oven and remove foil.
Return to turkey to oven to brown and finish cooking.
Check your turkey for “doneness” at least 1 hour before the calculated time is up.
Once internal temperature reaches 165 ̊ remove from oven and wait 10 minutes before carving.
Stuffed WHOLE TURKEY
18-20 MINUTES per pound for STUFFED WHOLE TURKEY.
example: 17 lb turkey would take about 5 hours and 23 minutes.
17 lbs x 19 minutes/lb=323 minutes ; 323 minutes/60 minutes per hour = 5.38 hours
0.38 x 60 minutes = 23 minutes
Be sure that the temperature of your stuffing is the same as the temperature of the turkey before stuffing the bird.
Preheat oven to 325 ̊ (convection), 350 ̊ (conventional).
Remove turkey from plastic bag. Remove Giblet set from cavity.
Stuff cavity with your stuffing.
Roast turkey in a covered roasting pan or cooking bag in a roasting pan.
Check your turkey for “doneness” at least 1 hour before the calculated time is up.
